Imagine what might have happened had Pakistan outshined India. There would be massive celebrations followed by aerial firing. How many of the poor men, women and children would have been killed or maimed by stray bullets. If that's not satisfying to the cricket fans, just think how much fuel people must have burnt while caught in the traffic jam after the Win. And what about the flurry of sms and phone calls that would have ensued after the Indian loss.
If saving on your phone bill seems a lame excuse for the loss, so why not ruminate the losses the economy has incurred due to the halting of business activity throughout the country. We should be thankful that we will no longer be relishing a holiday on Saturday for the Final. Coupled with that the psychological trauma we've all gone through due to the hyped up match has finally ended. The Final will just be a match between two better teams, no war will be waged on the cricketing ground this time.
For a week or so, the whole nation had its focus transfixed on the Pak-India encounter. A battle of inflated egos and bloated pride was being fought on the cricketing field, since that's the only field we are capable of competing with our neighbour. These happy-go-lucky days have made us forget all our worries. Who let Raymond Davis go, we are least bothered. Why drone attacks can't be stopped did not matter. What new political quagmire transpires we pay no heed to. When inflation will ultimately cut our throats seem to have lost its reasoning. Thank heavens for making us come back to senses and realize our responsibilities we've been trying to avert all along in this cricket frenzy.
I just don't know why we ever wanted to win the match so dearly. Infact we will inflict real pain to our neighbour-cum-rival by making them waste their energies for one more day and losing out monetarily, physically and psychologically. Green shirts have indeed turned out to be a winner in the end.
As life comes to normalcy, the nation will wake up with a good night sleep, head towards their daily routine devoid of anxiety pangs and focus on their work rejuvenated after a day well-spent with family and friends. Anyways, why create a fuss over the loss? After all cricket is not our national sport.
